Overview

The Govern OpenForms Designer is part of the Govern OpenForms Product Suite. It is available in version 6.0 and above. It is used for designing the end-user forms for Govern OpenForms. These forms are based on the business models and business entities created in the Business Entity Designer, where the attributes are added to the entities, mapped to the database, and the relationships between entities and between tables are created. The OpenForms Designer provides the tools for the intermediate steps between setting up the data mapping performed in the Business Entity Designer and making the forms available in Govern.

The OpenForms Designer (OFD) provides:

  • A user-friendly interface
  • Easy-to-handle drag and drop tools
  • Deployment ease and management with Deploy EZ.
  • Access to security permissions without having to open another application.
  • Greater flexibility for designing layouts.
  • View your new forms immediately in Govern.
  • Modify them and see your changes in real time
  • Security settings for adding security when you create your forms without having to open another application.
  • Add expressions anywhere on form, at the entity level, to an attribute, to a control, or to the Record Description

What’s New

Modal Mode

You can now open another form on a specific entity without navigating away from the current form.
The link can be added to any of the following:

  • A modal form is opened in a secondary window. The focus is on this form. No actions can be performed on other forms until the modal form is closed.
  • If the ID setters, for the Modal form, are different from the previously selected form, they do not change the Govern IDs in the tree view.

For details, see the Links section under Properties in the OpenForms Designer guide.

Preview Mode

Preview Mode is now available in the OpenForms Designer.. This is useful when you are adding margins and test styles.

Adding Margins

Before adding individual items to a form, you can now define default margins to apply to all items on every form. This ensures consistent spacing across all your user forms.
See Default Margins under Administrative Settings in the OpenForms Designer guide

Creating Text and Foreground / Background Styles

Use the Text Style Editor in GNA to create styles for the text that appears on your forms as headings or labels. You can also use it to create foreground and background colors for the items that appear on forms.
See Default Margins under Administrative Settings in the OpenForms Designer guide.
